The main aspects of the job:

  • Will work as part of a team in the energy transition & decarbonization consulting business line. Typical projects include mainly Emissions Reduction and Decarbonization Projects but will also participate in project teams focusing on Energy Efficiency Improvements (Strategic Energy Reviews SERs), Profit Improvement Programs, Strategic Analysis, Operational Excellence, Process trouble shooting and plant optimisation.
  • Expected to assist in client segmentation, targeting and initial contact with a view to building trusted consultative relations with key decision makers at current and potential future KBC / Yokogawa clients.
  • Expected to use structured problem-solving techniques and business performance models to allow value creation and returns on capital to be used to evaluate transformation scenarios and outcomes.
  • This role requires a good base level understanding of steam and power systems, process energy usage, greenhouse gas sources, emissions measurement and mitigation. Knowledge of process simulation tools, such as Petro-SIM and other platforms, is advantageous. Direct experience with emissions reduction tracking and reduction tools and energy efficiency studies is highly valued.
  • The postholder will be required to work as part of a team- both within the location and remotely. The successful candidate will have a willingness to travel as and when required mainly on an international basis (with some domestic travel) on a domestic and international basis, approximately 25% of the time.

Responsibilities:

•    Employs KBC’s established methods and tools, as adapted for the specific site’s needs
•    Communicates with client at working level to ensure streamlined execution, that client is clear about what has and is going to be done 
•    Reviews progress/plans/actions with the Consulting Delivery Team Lead as required, when working on projects. 
•    Simulation modelling and evaluation of process and GHG emitters including utility systems (steam, fuel, and power) and pinch techniques.
•    Technical and economic analysis of energy improvement opportunities.
•    Prepares the KBC in-house data for financial reporting of project performance
•    Evaluation and Lead of Energy/ Profit Improvement opportunities includes: 

o    Data collection and analysis
o    Process calculations
o    Client liaison and discussion of process operations
o    Client presentations
o    Responsible for/contributes to preparation of reports for clients
o    Input to Technology Software Development

•    Technical and economic analysis of emission reduction  opportunities (includes Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions).
•    Assists with client sales visits and proposal technical preparation as required

Education:

•    A B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemical/ Process engineering is required or equivalent experience
•    Achieved Chartered Engineer status, preferred but not required

Experience:

•    Experience of base level process industry operations and economics is essential. 
•    An area of specific expertise such as Primary Fractionation, Hydroprocessing, Fluidised Catalytic Cracking, Naphtha Processing or Residue Processing or Energy Management would be advantageous.
•    Knowledge of simulation tools such as Petro-SIM or HYSIS would be advantageous.
•    Demonstration of high quality of technical ability
•    Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines within budget and achievement of planned margins
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (excellent English skills, both written and oral) and the ability to deal with colleagues and clients professionally.
•    Develop and maintain good relationships with clients. 
•    Ability to work well in team environment under supervision and willingness to assist others
•    Display a high level of professionalism towards colleagues and as an ambassador of the company
•    Must be a self-starter that demonstrates a flexible approach
